About UsLimmud Shavuot was the brainchild of Rabbi Alon Meltzer in 2015. Having grown up in Auckland, living in New York, and seeing Limmud programs in those places and others succeed, he wanted to see something big happen. Pairing it with the festival of Shavuot, a holiday traditionally reserved for learning, the match seemed perfect.
Limmud Shavuot 2015 was held for three days beginning with Kabbalat Shabbat on Friday night, and ended after seeing over 170 people join in over the weekend (over 700 visits over the 3.5 days. It revolutionised the way in which the community engaged with that festival, and also with learning. |
